Aoa Dr.watson..I just found this thread after so many searches and really found it very helpful. .really a great wotk done by you...may Allah bless you. ..I have some queries kindly help me in clearing them..I have done my mbbs in 2013 with 1 year house job experience. .I have recently given my fcps part 1 exam in the month of june in gynae and obs and now I am waiting for my result. .I will be travelling to Damam in the month of Dec..I have no experience..should I go for SLE or for training programme test ??

Wsalam. Glad that you found this. Thanks for appreciation.
If you wanna start with training then you should go for SMSE exam (Saudi medical selection exam) SLE will only enable you to get ordinary job only.

And what is MOFA where it is in pakistan and what documents are required to be attested from them ?? One thing more how to take the elig number..I am totally blank and new please help me as I dont know a single thing about this..please dont mind on my questions they may sound you stupid but I am helpless and I really need your help
MOFA is ministry of foreign affairs and it's in Islamabad.
Eligibility number is applied through MUMARIS system, search Google you will get their website.
I don't mind questions :)

And before appearing in exam is there any pre requisite?? Any documents need to be attested ??
Please see thread regarding SMSE in this section (middle east careers) for your answer in detail.

There is no exemption on basis of mrcog. You will have to take SMSE or SLE to get your practice license.
To mention again that SMSE is necessary only for the Arab board training program and not necessary for fcps training or experience for mrcog. For fcps training doing SLE in gyne obs and getting gyne obs fcps supervisor would be enough. For mrcog only 2 years experience is needed in gyne obs department to be eligible for final exam of mrcog.

To summarize your situation, You have cleared MBBS, done your house job, taken FCPS part 1 (awaiting result), planning to take MRCOG part one next year.

Well, in your case, first you need 1 year of experience to get licence to practice in Saudi Arabia. You DONT need that 1 year experience if you are a saudi born or had schooling in Saudi.

Also, based on your experience, you will be able to take SLE GP only (provided you are a Saudi born, else you need 1 year of exp). for SLE Gyne, you need at least 2 years of experience in gyne.

I am not sure about the format of SLE to be changed in July, you can refer to below link for SLE exams format (this page was last updated on July 2014).

http://www.scfhs.org.sa/en/registration/exams/Blueprints/doctors/Pages/default.aspx

For SMSE, you dont need any experience. You just have to take SMSE and apply in January 2016. Seats are limited and priority is given to Saudis. Refer to SMSE thread for more info.

Personally, I suggest female doctors moving to Saudi Arabia after marriage (i dont know if that is your case) to ATLEAST complete 2 years of PG experience. Ideally, completing FCPS (4 years) and start working as a registrar/specialist is the best route for ambitious doctors. Because, Saudis are preferred for entry level jobs i-e staff physicians, residents in reputable/teaching hospitals.

Hope it helps.

I second @Dr. Sania answer. Also I am not sure about the pattern change. If you have any source link please share with us.
@Dr. Sania what I think is that if she passes FCPS-I in gyne obs then she would be eligible for SLE gyne obs, am I right? Or second option is the required experience of 2 years in speciality. I am not through this process so I am not pretty sure about SLE for speciality.

Well, as far as I know, 2 years of exp in a specialty is must. But, I've seen a PFMSG member successfully take SLE IM based on FCPS-1 only (with less than 2 yrs exp). So, you might be right or he just got lucky. As per PROMETRIC website below is the requirement for SLE Obs.

Bachelor Degree in Medicine with Residency or Postgraduate degree in Obygne

Also, as per SCFHS Manual, below is requirement for Resident Classification.

Physicians are classified into a resident rank in general and main specialties upon obtaining a postgraduate qualification that includes a standardized clinical training program of not less than one year, or experience in the specialty field of not less than two years, or if they are enrolled in a postgraduate training program.

I dont know if by "Residency/PG training program" they mean the Saudi board ONLY or any i-e FCPS.

@drwatson: yes I am getting married and moving to saudi and I have described all my situation in the previous posts...One thing to clear u siad that I need experience for SLE GP but I have no experience so am I not eligible for SLE ?? And if I am not eligible than what to do for licence. .

@Anum Omer

Yes I am afraid, minimum 1 yr of exp is required for SLE if you are not Saudi born or not had schooling in Saudi.

But, I suggest you wait for FCPS-1 result and once you clear it, you apply for eligibility number for SLE Gyne using MUMARIS. Attach your FCPS-1 result along with other documents and maybe you will get lucky. This could work because @Manhorse managed to take SLE IM based on his FCPS-1 only.

Goodluck.

@maryam khan Your welcome. Surely, I will try to scan it soon.

No, the SCFHS selection (application period) will be started in January 2016, you have to CLEAR the exam prior to that because when you submit your application, you need to submit your SMSE result along with other documents. You can take SMSE exam any time. refer to below thread for more details

If the are enrolled in a postgraduate training program means the same if one passes FCPS-I. They haven't mentioned any specific program.
For Saudi board one has to clear SMSE and tha exempts the need of SLE of speciality. So no point of Saudi board training program registration.

@Adeela

Sorry for the late reply. I am busy these days due to ramadan.

Congrats on getting the eligibility number. Yes, you should be able to register for SLE thru Prometric website in Riyadh. Just use the eligibility number on Prometric website. You will have to pay SR 300 in order to complete the Prometric appointment for exam. As per SCFHS manual,

"Non-Saudi practitioners shall be given three attempts to pass the licensing examination within six months effective from the date of application to the commission?.

You shall sit for SLE exam within 3 months of the issuance of eligibility number.

The other eligibility you got for Dataflow is only for degree. It happened with me as well. so just add your degree and other req docs and pay the fee and wait for the result. Save the receipt as it will be useful to you. For experience, you can either apply separately on dataflow website or apply by visiting SCFHS office. I applied visa SCFHS office and got the receipt upon paying fee. Took me almost 2 months to get the outcome. But, i used the receipt to initiate the registration process.

Hope it helps

@maryam khan

I am sorry for the late reply due to busy routine in ramadan.

I used the above mentioned 3 local books for all the exams. Apart from that, I am prepared from PAS MEDICINE which i used for MRCP part 1.

I didnt study USME step 2 and oxford books but people usually refer to them for SLE preps.

For SMSE, I studied mainly from all 4 books, i-e Dr. Yasir, Dr. Yahya, Um ul Qurah book for SLE, and Pas medicine. But prep from Dr. Yasir book helped alot as it is specifically designed for it.

And, NO i didnt use any other books for surgery and gyne preps. There are alot of questions available in these 3 local books on surgery and gyne. It was more than enough.

My apologies for not able to scan Dr. Yasir book till now. Its just that I am quite busy these days and that book has 500 pages :S. But, I will try to upload it soon inshallah. In a meantime, you can start preps by following SMSE blueprint provided earlier and start from Dr. Yahya book and Um ul Qura SLE prep book. I think both these books are available on this website in pdf. Let me know if you dont find them.

Goodluck.
